We live in a world where we have brought ourselves in the field of cooking to such extended heights that learning or hearing about a different and edible dish nowadays is nothing new to us. International cuisines have taken over the craze limits, giving people more and more reason to love food and leave their houses for the sake of food adventures.

Undoubtedly, we come across many rare dishes, especially seafood recipes that give a shocking jerk to someone new to them. We see many seafood recipes available in high class or five-star hotels, demanded by top society citizens who love to adapt to luxurious lifestyles. Seafood comes in the category of high-class foods along with infrequent affection towards their taste as not everyone is a fan of seafood.

We see sushi, salmon, shrimp, tuna, crab and clams, and many other seafoods popping out at the top of restaurant menus for seafood lovers and admirers. One of those foods that are also known for its nutty and sweet flavor, usually fried and served with some flavorful sauces; that is, The Squid.

We also have another name for squid, commonly known around the international chefs, which is Calamari. It’s typically made from European squid, which is found in a large number at the Mediterranean as well as the Adriatic Sea, North Sea, Irish Seas, and the Eastern parts of the Atlantic Ocean.

Fried calamari or squid rings are made for a delicious meal, which is garnished with some dipping sauce of one’s choice. Usually, these dipping sauces include marinara sauce, flavored mayonnaise, aioli, tartar sauce, and yogurt. Other than frying one can also sauté, grill, boil or braise the squid rings as well.

Here’s a little guide to try calamari rings recipe with easy instructions.

Steps

1
Done

Grab your calamari rings and dip them in buttermilk in a deep pan. Please make sure they are dip deep and mixed well. (You can either make your rings from scratch by buying a fresh squid or prepare it before cooking. However, it will take up more of your time, so it’s better to have frozen calamari rings ready to buy a pack at home.

2
Done

Cover the mixture with a plastic wrap or lid and set it aside for marinating in fridge for at least 30 minutes.

3
Done

Let’s get the oil ready for frying! Pour about 3-4 inches deep oil into the frying pot and pre-heat it for almost 10 minutes on low heat

4
Done

To create the frying mixture, take flour, salt, paprika, pepper, and garlic powder in a bowl and mix well. Set it aside for frying time.

5
Done

Take out the marinating calamari rings from the fridge and dip each one separately into the flour mixture until they are coated nicely but no too thick as the rings will turn rubbery if the layer of flour is too thick.

6
Done

Put 8-10 pieces of rings together in oil and fry them for a maximum of 2-3 minutes. Take them out the minute they turn golden brown.

7
Done

Prepare a plate with paper towels and put those rings on it to get the oil-soaked.

8
Done

Garnish it with a little salt and parsley for flavor and serve hot to avoid cold and chewy rings.
